Club News:
Ann Crook spoke to us in November about her role as manager of the Elmira/Corning Regional Airport, and some of the challenges, future plans, and happenings at the Airport. Later in the month, Nancy Ray gave our Blood Drive volunteers some great advice on conducting the drives. A volunteer herself, Nancy is the Coordinator of Blood Drive Volunteers for the Chemung County Red Cross.
Lion John Hoos reported that 19 Lions made a strong showing at the Scouting for Food project in November, and we were further assisted by many scouts who stayed for the sorting after their pickup duties were completed. The project fell short of last year in terms of the number of items collected, but the spirit of the workers made it a huge success.
King Lion Pat reported that the Elmira firefighters donated $300 to the Elmira Lions in support of the ramp project in August. Lions Al Draht, Tom Rhodes, and Ed Rhodes helped out with that project on behalf of our Club, and the Elmira Lions sent us half of the firefighter’s donation!
Finally, we began to compare notes in November, noting that Marge Tremaine hand-wrote thank you notes to each and everyone who helped out with the Fall Festival in October!
Board Action:
