Club News:
The weather cooperated for the most part over the four days of our Memorial Day rest stop, and while the final results are not available yet, it seemed to be a good success. Thanks to all who participated! Participation at Journey for Sight on May 19th was a little sparse, however. Lions Tom Rhodes, Ed Rhodes, Grace Yanak and Mike Yanak participated at the Community Park, and Lion Bim Van Etten gave both moral and financial support by his presence. If anyone would like to contribute to this event, please give your donation to Lion Sue at the next meeting.
Also in May we inducted a new member, Lion Connie Lambert. Welcome to our Club!
Once again we have a busy month of June, starting with the Blood Drive on the Saturday the 9th, the Vintage Car Show BBQ the following Sunday on the 10th, and the Community Days BBQ on the following Saturday. Thanks to Lions Al Draht, Lance Muir, and Mary Ann Balland for coordinating these respective events.
Board Action:
Ink cartridges - Lion Don Williams reported a significant drop in profit from cartridge collection and the Board decided to discontinue the project. Thanks Lion Don for your years of service in this project. There was a general discussion regarding Blood Drives, leading to a decision to continue sponsoring them. Summer Concerts - Lion Lance reported these will be held at the Community Park on August 13th and 27th. Antique Car Show BBQ - Decision made to change the wording on signs from ½ chicken to "chicken only" to avoid confusion. Cost will be $4.00 for chicken only and $7:00 for full dinner (no children's dinners). Community Project - easement is done and will be given to Lion John Farr, and rules for use of the sign have been discussed. Use of the sign will be first come basis, sign information to be dropped off at the Community Center. Lion Pat will do more research on the actual sign regarding various costs. Calendar Sale - Decision made that the club is over committed for 2007-2008. Suggestion made to do 2 raffles at Miniers instead.
